Donation Behaviour Survey

If you are:

  • 18 years or over
  • Live in Canada
  • Able to read and write in English

We would like to invite you to participate in our research study.

We want to learn how, where, and why people donate clothing and textiles, including footwear and accessories such as bags and scarves. We want to hear from anyone 18 years of age or older who currently lives in Canada. Specifically, we are interested in understanding people’s donation behaviours for textile donations to charitable organisations (e.g., non-profit thrift stores and clothing bins). We want to hear from everyone, even those who do not donate textile items to these types of organisations.

So, whether you donate textile items regularly or have never donated them, we want to hear your perspective!

Participation would involve completing an online survey in Qualtrics, which will take 10-15 minutes. Your responses will be entirely anonymous, and you can withdraw from the study at any time prior to submitting your responses.

At the end of the survey, you have the option to enter a prize draw for a $100 gift card for a thrift store of your choice. There is 1/1000 chance of winning the prize draw.

If you are interested, please click the following link to complete the survey or contact Rachel McQueen at rachel.mcqueen@ualberta.ca if you have further questions. This research is being conducted in partnership with the National Association of Charitable Textile Recyclers (NACTR).

A copy of the informed consent document is accessible here [document will be attached soon].
