Odour Providers

Thank you for your interest in participating in our wear trial!

If you are interested in being an odour-provider:

This study has been designed to investigate if clothing advertised as being anti-odour or odour-controlling lives up to these claims.

To put these odour-control fabrics to the test, we are looking for participants who

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Exercise frequently (4+ times/week)
  • Notice odours in their clothing after exercise

If this sounds like you, you might be eligible to participate!

Participation in the study will include:

  • A screening session (~1 hr of aerobic exercise) to confirm you have enough odour
  • A 7-week commitment to the study
  • The study begins with a washout period where you will be asked to refrain from using deodorants/ anti-perspirants or heavily scented body washes. You will be asked to continue to refrain from using such products for the duration of the study
  • Underarm will be sampled (swabbed) for microbial analysis after the washout period before the first shirt is worn and before and after each new t-shirt is worn. A total of 6 underarm swabs will be collected.
  • You will be asked to exercise in 3 different study t-shirts over the course of the 6 weeks. Performing approx. 1-hour of aerobic exercise 5x in each t-shirt
  • When a t-shirt has been worn for exercise 5x, you will return it to the researcher and be given a new t-shirt
  • There will be a washout period between each new t-shirt
  • You will be given a logbook at the beginning of the study and asked to complete it after each exercise session (this will be available as a physical and digital document for you to fill out based on your preference)
  • To thank you for your time, you will receive a $50 grocery gift card when each T-shirt is returned for a total of $150 when the trial is complete

The schedule below outlines what you can expect your participation in the study to look like:
